Palo Alto Networks Drops $500 Million On Console

Palo Alto Networks acquires Thrive-backed AI help desk startup Console for $500 million.

Cybersecurity powerhouse Palo Alto Networks makes another massive move in the AI space. The company has acquired the two-year-old AI startup Console for roughly $500 million in cash and stock.

Console originally built AI agents to handle tedious internal IT tasks. It automated password resets, granted app permissions, and resolved basic employee tickets without human intervention.

Palo Alto Networks now plans to fold Console directly into its flagship Cortex platform. And the aim is straightforward: turn standard security alerts into autonomous action using natural language commands.

Paying half a billion dollars for a startup last valued at $157 million might seem steep from a strategic perspective.

Console raised just $29 million across its brief lifespan. But this aggressive valuation reflects a crucial market reality. Security teams don’t want more passive dashboards that simply flag problems. What they’re really looking for is intelligent software agents that actually execute resolutions.

And buying proven agentic workflows saves years of internal engineering.

On another note, this shift also carries real trade-offs for enterprise IT operations.

Console was rapidly building momentum as an AI-native service desk. Palo Alto Networks is redirecting that tech away from general IT support toward threat mitigation by folding Console into a specialized security suite.

The era of manual triage is closing fast, and autonomous AI agents are becoming essential enterprise infrastructure.
