IBM has agreed to settle the US Department of Justice’s accusations that the company violated civil rights laws with its DEI practices. According to a press release from the DOJ, IBM will pay more than $17 million to resolve allegations of taking “race, color, national origin, or sex” into account when making employment decisions. This settlement is the latest development in a longstanding effort from the Trump administration to end DEI programs, which was kick-started from an executive order in early 2025.IBM denied any wrongdoing and said the settlement wasn’t an admission of liability, while the US government said this…

The farthest journey in human history concluded Friday evening when NASA’s Artemis II astronauts returned to Earth after a flight around the moon. The crew’s Orion space capsule named Integrity splashed down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego shortly after 5 pm Pacific Time, marking the end of a 10-day, more than 695,000-mile voyage beyond the far side of the moon and back. The four-person crew of Artemis II—commander Reid Wiseman, pilot Victor Glover, mission specialist Christina Koch, and mission-specialist Jeremy Hansen—traveled a greater distance from Earth than anyone has before, reaching 252,756 miles from our home…
Hiring trends vary significantly across sectors Just as hiring appeared to be picking up, Singapore’s job market has reversed course. Job postings have fallen to the lowest level since Mar 2021, according to the latest report from job listing portal Indeed. In Feb 2026, postings dropped 4.5% to sit 12% below a year ago, a decrease that has more than offset three consecutive months of gains. Still, the headline figures only tell part of the story. Hiring trends vary significantly across sectors, with gains in some occupations offset by steep declines in others. Here’s a breakdown of how job postings…
Cisco Systems Inc. is reportedly in talks to buy Astrix Security Ltd., a startup that helps companies secure their artificial intelligence agents. The Information today cited sources as saying that the deal could be worth between $250 million and $350 million. That’s about three times the amount of funding Astrix has raised to date. The company’s investors include Workday Inc. and the Anthology Fund, an investment vehicle backed by Anthropic PBC. Tel Aviv-based Astrix sells a platform that can automatically out all the AI agents in a company’s network. It also identifies the tools they use to automate work. The…
A display of Microsoft Surface laptops at the company’s Build 2025 developer conference. (GeekWire File Photo) For the past few years, it felt as if Microsoft’s Windows org was on autopilot. (No, not THAT Autopilot.) Microsoft leadership seemed content to let Windows run its course as long as people and partners continued to pay for it in some way. The result: New features were underwhelming. Ads began popping up in the OS at every turn. Attempts to turn Windows into an “Agentic OS” were roundly hated. It hasn’t been a great time to be a Windows user. But in the…
Most B2B teams track SAO volume but ignore what happens after acceptance. Here’s why the sales accepted opportunity is your most gamed pipeline metric. To understand where a B2B revenue engine is actually healthy or quietly breaking down, skip the MQL count and look at what happens at the sales accepted opportunity stage. That handoff, the moment when a sales rep reviews a lead and decides it is worth pursuing, is where the optimism in pipeline forecasts meets the reality of buyer readiness. And for most organizations, the gap between those two things is wider than either team wants to…
Training a large artificial intelligence model is expensive, not just in dollars, but in time, energy, and computational resources. Traditionally, obtaining a smaller, faster model either requires training a massive one first and then trimming it down, or training a small one from scratch and accepting weaker performance. Researchers at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems, ETH, and Liquid AI have now developed a new method that sidesteps this trade-off entirely, compressing models during training, rather than after. The technique, called CompreSSM, targets a family of AI architectures known…
