The U.K. is not going to let this one go. Even as other inquiries quietly fade into bureaucratic limbo, this one is sticking.A British media watchdog said on Thursday that it would press ahead with an investigation of X over the spread of AI-generated deepfake images — despite the platform’s insistence that it’s cracking down on harmful content. At the center of the dispute are deepfake images – often sexualized; often falsified – that have proliferated on X. Time to get philosophical, because why not? At the core of this cheeky question, “Is AI better than bacon?” lies a deeper inquiry: What do we value more, the power of the mind or the pleasures of the flesh (the delicious, smoked flesh of a pig in this case)? It’s a classic brain-vs-belly showdown, Socrates meets Epicurus, high logic meets hearty breakfast.AI represents the pinnacle of human intellectual achievement … it’s all about the mind, reasoning, intelligence, the very things that historically were thought to separate humans from animals. A founding AI engineer at Delve, an AI startup based out of San Francisco, had been working all-nighters for three days straight. The techie was snapped hooked to his workstation, along with the co-founder having a chuckle. The Indian-origin MIT-graduate CEO, Mr. Karun Kaushik, shared the candid picture online, bragging about “this team never stops shipping,” until social media schooled him back. Anti-aging crusader and multi-millionaire entrepreneur Bryan Johnson slammed the boss with a tweet stating the following adverse impact of burning midnight oil: 3 all-nighters = impaired glucose metabolism, elevated cortisol, reduced BDNF, increased IL-6, shortened telomeres, cognitive decline,…
