Yahoo is officially back in the search conversation, with Yahoo Scout, a new AI-powered answer engine that wants to take on Google’s AI mode and Perplexity by doing something surprisingly old-school. Instead of hiding links behind buttons or footnotes, Scout puts them front and center and makes clicking links part of the experience. Yahoo Scout enters the AI search race with a different playbook Scout is being pitched as an “answer engine,” not an AI chatbot. Ask it a question, and you get a clear, conversational response, but one that is loaded with visible blue links. Up to nine sources…
For the past several years, the world has been mesmerized by the creative and intellectual power of artificial intelligence (AI). We have watched it generate art, write code, and discover new medicines. Now, as of October 2025, we are handing it the keys to the kingdom. AI is no longer just a fascinating tool; it is the operational brain for our power grids, financial markets, and logistics networks. We are building a digital god in a box, but we have barely begun to ask the most important question of all: how do we protect it from being corrupted, stolen, or…
Chinese New Year profits can only go so far for bak kwa businesses—year-round survival depends on strategy & innovation Chinese New Year (CNY) is just around the corner. As the festive season approaches, queues form outside food businesses across the island, including bak kwa shops, as customers clamour for the sweet, smoky slices of barbecued pork synonymous with the holiday. But have you ever wondered what happens to bak kwa shops once the festive rush ends? How do these brands survive during the other eleven months of the year, and are CNY sales alone enough to keep them afloat? Here’s…
“Alexa+ is significantly more capable than the original Alexa, so we’re working to make it available to as many customers as possible,” said an Amazon spokesperson. “We notified customers of the upcoming update, including how to return to the original version.”Amazon says it’s only upgrading Prime members with supported devices to Alexa+ Early Access in this new push. Alexa+ is currently free, and Prime members will continue to get it for free when it launches into the first full version, but it will cost $20 a month once it officially launches for non-Prime members. The list of supported devices is…
The EU has now singled X out – and this time it’s not political, misinformation based or some nebulous free speech argument. It has to do with porn: Specifically, there’s this question of the sexually explicit images that can be created using Grok, the AI associated with Elon Musk’s platform, and whether some of those were being used to make “digital undressing” content. This is the sort of thing that makes your stomach clench when you read it, because it’s not just harm that is abstract. It’s targeted, personal and in some instances may be illegal. And about the mood, too. This is not melodramatic E.U.…
Hello Cyber Builders 🖖This week, I’m announcing a new series on Intelligent Security. That’s the name we used at CyGO Entrepreneurs for something I deeply believe in: how AI can enhance and scale cybersecurity operations. If you’ve followed RSA25 or Black Hat this year, you’ve noticed it—vendors everywhere are pitching AI agents and AI copilots for security. Exciting, yes. But let’s not fool ourselves: AI is not a magic wand. What it is, though, is a powerful multiplier. And when you’re facing scaling challenges in risk and governance, identity security, OT, or security operations, multipliers matter more than silver bullets. That’s what…
(Bigstock Photo) Startup leaders in the Seattle region say a new proposal to expand the capital gains tax in Washington state could spur founders and investors to build companies somewhere else. SB 6229 (and a companion HB 2292) would apply the capital gains tax to profits from the sale of qualified small business stock, or QSBS, even when gains are fully exempt under federal law. That means a startup founder or early employee who takes stock instead of a bigger salary would owe tax to the state when they ultimately sell the shares, which typically happens at acquisition or IPO.…
Swimlane Inc., a company that automates agentic artificial intelligence for cybersecurity, today announced AI Agent workforce, a suite of powerful AI agents now available in the company’s marketplace and integrated into the platform. “AI is opening the aperture greater than ever before on what can be automated in security,” said co-founder and Chief Executive Cody Cornell. “Security workflows that once required human-in-the-loop can now leverage expert agents to drive even more automation in their environments.” The company calls the agents Hero AI and said they are integrated natively into the company’s Turbine platform experience. It says they perform the equivalent…
The Leading Candidates for an AI BustBelow are the names that are most likely to become the future shorthand for the collapse of the 2020s AI boom. These are the names that match the psychology, economics, and symbolism of this moment. The Primary ContendersThe Great AI PopThis is the most likely winner. It's the discussion about the reaction of some people in the UK regarding their impending social media ban for under 16s that bugged me most. Most noteably was the hand-waving around "the gov is just trying to siphon up all our IDs" and "this means everyone will have to show ID, not just under 16s". If only there was another precedent somewhere in the world where precisely this model was rolled… oh – wait! 🐨 The way the ban (sorry – "delay") has been done in Australia isn't perfect, but it also doesn't have to be. There are still plenty…
