But will it see the same success as the MacBook Neo? Dell Dell announced the return of the XPS 13 late last month and said broadly that it would be available in June. The low-cost laptop is now available on both virtual and brick-and-mortar store shelves. It retails starting at $599 for students and $699 for other customers. The Dell XPS 13 announcement came hot on the heels of Apple unveiling its first true budget laptop. The US government. might have torpedoed Anthropic’s plans for its most powerful model yet. And the company is hoping it’s merely a fluke. In the AI race, there’s a major influencing factor that the companies have overlooked- the US government. Anthropic has been in hot water with the Trump Administration recently. Previously, it refused to allow the military department to access (and use) its AI model for fully autonomous systems and domestic surveillance. The government’s response was as brutal as the rejection- it placed Anthropic on a supply chain blocklist. The tides can be felt once the block comes into…
Swati KhandelwalJun 16, 2026Machine Learning / Cloud Security A flaw in the Google Cloud Vertex AI SDK for Python let an attacker with no access to a victim’s project hijack the victim’s machine learning model upload and run code inside Google’s serving infrastructure. Palo Alto Networks Unit 42, which found and reported the bug through Google’s bug bounty program, calls the technique “Pickle in the Middle” and said it saw no exploitation in the wild. Google has patched it; if you use the SDK, update to version 1.148.0 or later. The attacker needed only a Google Cloud project of their…
Apple‘s first foldable iPhone is still expected to debut later this year, but the company may already be looking beyond its first attempt. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is planning a second-generation foldable iPhone for release in 2027, just one year after the original model is expected to arrive. The device is reportedly codenamed V78 and will launch alongside the 20th-anniversary iPhone model. It looks like Apple might be going all in on foldables as a long-term product category rather than a one-off experiment. The Cupertino giant has spent years watching rival smartphone makers refine foldable hardware. Samsung, Google,…
ShinyHunters has put the Council of Europe on the clock, claiming it stole 297GB of sensitive data and threatening to publish it unless its demands are met. The cyber extortion group says the data includes payroll records, medical information, employee data, and thousands of resumes spanning 16 years. The group has given the Council of Europe until June 16, 2026, to comply with ransom demands or risk having the alleged data exposed online. The organization has not confirmed a breach and says it is investigating the claims. If verified, the incident would expose one of Europe’s most prominent international institutions…
The company responsible for the Commodore 64, the best-selling desktop computer model of all time, is back. And Commodore’s latest unveiling feels appropriately retro: a “digital detox” flip phone called The Commodore Callback 8020.Commodore’s Callback 8020 announcement blog attributes the phone’s simple throwback design to the “screen break” trend, writing that it’s for customers who want a “calmer, more intentional phone.” The Callback 8020 promises to pare back distractions and doomscrolling. It has limited touchscreen availability and no browser access. It has no work apps, no email and no AI. Social media apps are completely blacklisted from the onboard Commostore. The company has developed “patent-pending”…

Hammond, dean of MIT’s School of Engineering…
On Wednesday morning, workers poured hydrogen peroxide into the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, DC.The treatment is the latest attempt by the Interior Department to control an algae bloom that has turned the pool bright green, despite President Donald Trump’s costly renovation to make it “American flag blue” in time for the nation’s 250th anniversary. Hot temperatures and climate change are among the risk factors that could be driving the outbreak. The Trump administration spent more than $14 million to update the pool ahead of celebrations across the US capital. The work was done under a no-bid contract by a…
[This is a sponsored article with the Singapore Government Partnerships Office.] Singapore’s push in artificial intelligence (AI) has accelerated in recent years, with adoption expected to contribute billions to the economy. One such initiative is Lorong AI, launched in Jan 2025 by the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI). The hub provides a collaborative space for practitioners across sectors to connect, exchange ideas, and partner on AI projects. Lorong AI has been operating as a pilot initiative…
