Brand leaders are talking about their agencies, and it’s not all flattering.
Hello Cyber Builders 🖖I’m continuing the series on Intelligent Security. Last week, we explored the AIxCC challenge. This week, I want to take a step back and make sense of the wave of new benchmarks emerging across the internet. If you’re like me, reading through them often leaves you wondering: what is AI really capable of today? On one side, we see bold marketing claims from vendors. On the other hand, “cyber safety” labs publish weak or incomplete results. In contrast, we see DARPA-style contests or highly specialized startups achieving impressive breakthroughs. In this post, I’ll share my view on how the…

Microsoft has pushed out another emergency update for Windows 11 after its latest monthly patch caused unexpected app crashes and system issues for users. What was meant to be a routine January security update quickly turned into a problem, with reports piling up about apps freezing, Outlook breaking, and cloud-synced files refusing to behave. Some of the problems were serious enough that Microsoft even advised certain users to uninstall the update altogether. Now, Microsoft has stepped in again with a second out-of-band update, aiming to finally steady the ship. Why Microsoft had to step in again Microsoft The trouble began…
In a significant advancement toward human-like intelligence in machines, scientists have engineered a single artificial neuron capable of performing the functions of multiple brain regions. This development could enable robots to perceive, learn, and act with adaptability and responsiveness previously thought exclusive to living brains. The device, dubbed a transneuron, can switch roles between brain cells involved in vision, planning, and movement. Developed by an international team led by Loughborough University, with collaborators from the Salk Institute and the University of Southern California, the transneuron represents a major leap for neuromorphic computing – technology designed to replicate the brain’s efficiency…
This week, it was an absolute privilege to be at Europol in The Hague, speaking about cyber offenders and at the InterCOP conference and spending time with some of the folks involved in the Operation Endgame actions. The latter in particular gave me a new sense of just how much coordination is involved in this sort of operation, all the way down to some of the messaging in the videos they've since released. I've seen some social commentary on these already, check them out and see what you think, especially as it relates to the psyops those videos play a…
A 26-year-old employee at one of the Big Four’s Ernest & Young’s India’s Pune offices succumbed to stress from overwork. ‘The pressure became too much for her’: Mother blames ‘work stress’ for 26-year-old EY employee’s death#workpressure #WorkLifeBalance #EY https://t.co/KCt2vBQz7SBy @ShDivyanshi pic.twitter.com/iihrq8EgvP — Business Insider India🇮🇳 (@BiIndia) September 18, 2024 The diseased employee’s mother wrote to the EY India boss, Rajiv Memani, a heart wrenching letter urging to take reformative measures to ensure the company follows its ethos and principles as stated in its human rights statement. Anita Augustine remarked in her emotional mail that her young daughter Anna Sebastian was…
Last month, Pamela Griffin and two other residents of Taylor, Texas, took to the lectern at a city council meeting to object to a data center project. But later, they sat back as council members discussed a proposed tech factory. Griffin didn’t speak up against that development. No one did.A similar contrast is repeating in communities across the US. Data centers are meeting unprecedented public resistance, with environmental costs a leading concern. More of them have been needed to power a growing appetite for AI, and they’ve become obvious flash points for communities worried about what automation could mean for…
For the past two years, the corporate world has been gripped by a singular obsession: Artificial Intelligence (AI). C-suites and boardrooms have mandated “AI-first” strategies, terrified of being left behind in a gold rush not seen since the dawn of the internet. The problem? Most companies have discovered that buying AI is not like buying software. It’s like buying a Formula 1 engine when you’ve only ever driven a sedan, and you have no pit crew. The result is a digital graveyard of “proof-of-concept” projects. Billions have been spent on high-end GPUs and data scientist salaries, only for projects to…
Ravie LakshmananJan 26, 2026Malware / Endpoint Security The North Korean threat actor known as Konni has been observed using PowerShell malware generated using artificial intelligence (AI) tools to target developers and engineering teams in the blockchain sector. The phishing campaign has targeted Japan, Australia, and India, highlighting the adversary’s expansion of the targeting scope beyond South Korea, Russia, Ukraine, and European nations, Check Point Research said in a technical report published last week. Active since at least 2014, Konni is primarily known for its targeting of organizations and individuals in South Korea. It’s also tracked as Earth Imp, Opal Sleet,…
