The wheels of the money churning machine need endless sleepless nights of slogging on, fueled by caffeine. Most billionaires and hustling entrepreneurs would vouch for it. Pulling in all-nighters and occasionally staying awake for two nights in a row to deliver projects on tight deadlines is not what just a high schooler does. Makes you wonder if billionaires are all just a bunch of high schoolers with tons of money. Well, Bill Gates was definitely one. When he heard of guys who had the bare minimum of sleep, Gates would tell himself to try harder. During the early days of Microsoft, Gates and his team would pull all-nighters to deliver software on time. On odd days, he would keep awake for two nights straight. However, Gates felt that he wasn’t as sharp when he was operating mostly on caffeine and adrenaline.

All this changed when Bill Gates’ father, William H. Gates II, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. The billionaire says that sleep is one of the key indicators of the dreaded disease. Senior Gates passed away at 94 after his prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s. Gates now doesn’t skip his daily quota of sleep and even monitors his ‘sleep score.’
